Serenity Now: A Playlist For When You Can’t Remember the Last Day There Wasn’t a Big Horrible News Story and All You Need Is To Freaking Relax For a Minute

“Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free
Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves
Let me forget about today until tomorrow”

Stressed? I feel ya. It’s been rough lately. Just when you start to mentally process one scandal/mass shooting/dumb thing that Trump did, another one comes rollin’ along. It’s just too much.

Here’s a list of everything that’s stressing me out right now:

Donald Trump
North Korea
Harvey Weinstein
Puerto Rico
Should I be eating more protein?
Las Vegas
Neo-Nazis and white supremacists
That mole on my leg that’s been looking a little weird lately
Health insurance
Racial equality
The opioid epidemic
The fact that Hillary didn’t win (yes, this is still bothering me)
Government regulations on birth control
Wait, did I turn the stove off earlier?
LGBT Rights
Global warming
Fake news
1984 becoming reality
The Great Pacific Garbage Patch
Eric Trump

(Fun challenge: Try rearranging the items on the list above so that it can be sung to the tune of Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire”.)

While I certainly encourage you all to protest, call your congressmen, or donate to your favorite charities, I also encourage you to find time during the day to sit back in a really comfy chair, crack open an ice-cold beer, and let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic with this 60’s and 70’s rock playlist.
